Summertime an’ the Livin’ is Easy
Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010Since Monday was the official first day of summer, I started thinking about all of my different summer memories. Which started me to wondering if any of you, our faithful readers, wanted to share your summer memories. I’ll start:
When I was around 7, 8 and 9 years old, my family and I would load up our trailer (camper), and head down to the lake. Staying for two weeks at a time, my dad would drive back and forth to work and my brothers and I would spend our days fishing, swimming, taking hikes, canoeing, building amazing forts, playing games, and roasting marshmallows over the open flames. Ahhh, it was the life! Since we were able to stay in our camper we had all the wonderful amenities of shower, beds, air conditioning, and running water. Many told us that we weren’t really camping, but we were staying outdoors!
Those camping trips are some I’ll never forget, they were so much fun, and I hope to one day share the same experience with my kids.
What about you? We would love to hear your favorite summertime memories.
See you in the comments.
I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream (Sandwiches!)
Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010In our celebration of summer we thought it would be fun to give you a fun, easy recipe for a great summer dessert: Ice Cream Sandwiches!
To make these little treats, all you need to do is:
Make or buy your favorite batch of cookies, fill with your favorite flavor of ice cream, arrange on a baking sheet, and freeze. Once frozen, wrap sandwiches in wax paper and store in an air tight container in the freezer.
DELICIOUS!!
What are some of your favorite summer desserts?
How To Stay Cool…
Thursday, June 17th, 2010With the on-set of warmer weather, it’s very easy to get hot. Our mission today is to give you fun and creative ideas on how to stay cool when you’re outside in the blazing heat.
1. Eat Popsicles! Seriously, they’re really good and they help to cool you down when it’s really warm outside.
2. Take a run through the sprinkler. One of my greatest memories as a child was running through the sprinkler, it’s so refreshing and will cool you down in no time.
3. SWIM! Most people do this in the summer, but swimming is a great way to have fun, exercise, and keep cool.
4. Waterguns. Seriously friends, there is nothing more fun than a good ‘ol fashioned watergun war. You’re making memories, and keeping cool. It’s a win-win!
I hope these four ideas will help you have fun and stay cool when outside this summer. Oh, and if you’re having trouble staying cool indoors, you might want to give Mountaineer Heating and Cooling a call, we can help you with that.
Keeping Cool,
Molly Petrey
