Need a Recipe?

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

So, I thought it would be nice to share something fun on the blog today. My family is traveling to Charleston, SC this weekend to spend time with family and attend the ASU vs. Citadel game. As with any family gathering/road trip I’m making a few snacks to take along and share. I was browsing around the internet and came across a recipe for Chili-Lime Pecans. I liked what I saw, and knew I had to share it with you, our blog readers. So, here is a perfect snack for tailgating, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any occassion!

Chili-Lime Pecans:
2 T. Lime Juice
1 T. Olive Oil
1 t. Paprika
1 t. Sea Salt
1 t. Chili Powder
1/2 t. Cayenne Pepper
3 C. Pecan Halves

In a bowl, stir together all ingredients except pecans. Add pecans and toss to coat well. Spread pecans in an aluminum foil-lined, lightly greased 15×10 jelly-roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes, until pecans are toasted and dry, stirring occasionally. Cool completely; store in airtight container. Makes 3 cups.

Hope you enjoy!

Giving Blood

Monday, October 10th, 2011

Drew, Dustin and I (Molly) gave blood today. The Watauga High School was hosting a blood drive, and we all signed up to give (all three of us are O Positive, so our blood is in high demand). It was so great to see so many people there! I know that there is always a need for blood, so it’s always a great thing to see a great turnout. I’d like to encourage you, if you’re physically able, to give blood. It’s a great way to help others, and it doesn’t take much time. We’re glad we did!
